production : GMEA – Group of Electroacoustic Music of Albi, France http://www.gmea.net
premiered october 8th 2006 at ‘Maison de Radio-France, Paris’ / INA-GRM
approximate duration of the work : 30 minutes
“Espaces Croisés” is an encounter between an improviser/interpret and an electro-acoustic composition made up/broken up into autonomous cells placed in a virtual physical modeling environment.
Each cell represents a basic sound element ; movements, speeds, collisions, attractions… control different sound synthesis parameters and the positions of each grain of sound in the acoustic space.
Cells evolve freely in a pseudo-chaotic 2D space.
The interpret doesn’t play the sounds, he plays the space ; He controls the physical rules of this virtual environment, applying forces and constraints to its elements.
