hi matthew thanks for a great adaptation to Max w/ tons of potential!

i have one definite question. – is it possible to draw a waveform of a buffer~ or jit.buffer~ using the waveform~ object or graphically some other way, AND be able to control it? i wanted to have a visual representation of a selected sample but neither waveform~ or jit.pwindow seems to work at all. i guess one could draw it directly in Open GL but i'm not sure i could layer it with a region slider on top to play sections of the sample.

also just verifying that there is currently NO support for orientation – right?

Thanks !

I guess you're talking about MMF-Fantastick, right ?

I'm
curently working on it. there are diferents options to display a
waveform in Fantastick ; (draw in openGL, or send a texture..) ; in MMF
(the one not for iPad) there is already an abstraction to zoom / select
in the waveform~ with multitouch input.

but you're right, a rangeSlider on top of a waveform should do the trick as well.

about orientation : not supported for the moment.. (waiting for a Fantastick update that should facilitate this kind of thing..)

stay tuned !

yes, sorry i should have specified that i was referring to MMF-fantastick. i know very little about how to do OpenGL in Max, though i have skimmed the tutorials.

it appears that Fantastick's implementation of OpenGL seems to be different than Max MSPs implementation. i found a post where someone drew a waveform using jit.gl.mesh but not sure if or how it can be adapted to work with Fantastick. do you have any suggestions to try?

thanks in advance,

scott

OK after a little searching i finally found something that will render a buffer as an image file. problem is i cannot seem to get MMF-fantastick to display an image of any kind. all i get are either blue or gray screens everytime i refresh.

i've tried pictctrl pictslider and fpic all with no luck. have even tried inserting a image load command into the mxj net.udp.send object in the [connection to iphone] patcher. i get no max errors, but no screen update either. all pictures draw fine in Max itself so that's not the issue.

are there special attribute settings for these objects (besides the scripting name) that makes an image file display in MMF-fantastick or is this not implemented yet? it seems like it should be possible but none of your example interfaces show pictures.

if not, can you instruct me where to place an ordinary Fantastick image load statement so that it draws to my current setup? also whether to use quartz or openGL statements.

sorry for all the questions – just getting frustrated with what should be an easy task comparatively.

BTW system is Macbook w/ newest max version with 10.6.0 + iphone 2G and 3.12 installed – installed just in case…

best,

scott

Hello!

i'm also willing to use picture-based interface objects with fantastick, in my case is the matrixctrl

Mathieu, do you know if this is going to be possible? (in the iPad app)

cheers,

gato
